Eagerly awaited movie of the year 2012 which introduces Mega Star Mammoty’s son in the malyalam film Industry is out and if you (like me) look forward to this Film only based on Dulquer Salman, then the surprise is on……
The movie theater was packed with Youngsters and with people young at heart, the atmosphere was that of excitement, anxiety and hoping for the best…the show begins.
The movie starts with a beautiful title track by Rex Vijayan (Avial) and from there the movie rolls on at its own pace quite different from the way we are used to. The Film tells us the story of Lalu ( Dulquer Salman) and his Group of Friends who live on Sand Mafia Business and other small time activities who in a sequence of events end up to be the top players in the Mafia business.
Dulquer Salaman have got amazing screen presence in the movie and his sound is great, dialogue delivery good, considering the fact that this is Dulquers First movie the performance is Great!! He is one actor more who would make his mark with his acting Skill.
“Kurrudi” is the other character to watch out for in the movie played by Sunny, Kurrudi brings in the humor quotient of the movie. Sunny is the new find for the malayalam industry and surely we would see more of him in Malayalam Films. Sunny Chips in some scene and it definitely helps Dulquer screen presence too!
Director Srinath Rajendran shows us the ugly side of Mafia world but bundled with a lot of Humor and the combination really works well. We get to see the potential of this Director and there are some real good moments in the film. And yes there are few negatives in terms of lighting etc but let’s keep that aside for the boldness of this debutant Director and his ability to present a subject that we have heard and seen many a times in a complete different package.
The story is narrated through Dulquer salaman and the freshness in the narration style really stands out and the screenplay by Vini Vishwalal keeps us guessing as to what’s going to happen next.
The character played by Baburaj surely brings a lot of humor to the movie and this would be one role that he would be known for after Salt n pepper.
Music is by Avial and Nikhil and the songs have been blended nicely in the movie and the songs that I liked the most was “Aiyyo”,” Arambath” by Avial and Swapnam by Nikhil.
Papu- the cinematographer has given a real touch to the movie and within the space constrains of the small rooms and gullies, the work done deserves applause.
Albert Einstein once talked about Insanity and he defined Insanity as “Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” well this holds good for our Malayalam Film Directors and I hope movies like Second show would motivate or at least trigger the Film makers to start thinking differently.
My rating is a must see movie- If you are
a) Youngster
b) If you are Young at heart.
For others, it a watchable movie.
Rating:- 7.5 / 10
